Why We Lie
Reasons for telling lies are numerous. Some people do it because they need to hide their evil actions and cover them with sugary stories or deceiving trumpery; others' lies are firmly based on more or less noble grounds i.e. they lie because they want to spare their closest people pain or sufferings – the so-called white liars.
Some people lie because they have no other choice. That's not an excuse for them, just a facing-facts procedure. They may be lawbreakers whose lies are stably backed up, fed and bred by their criminal activities, these offenders are well aware of the fact that if they don't lie their cross-examining procedures away skillfully and unmistakably, they will be deprived of the sunny freedom for a very long time, so they see no way back to the truth – simply because there's nothing to get back to.
There are people whose status is defined as 'the players' or 'the pretenders', other variations are possible. Their self is wrapped up in deception, and they spread it high and low on people who surround them irrespective of the level of closeness or intimacy of their interrelations and connections. Skilful lie is their prerogative, and it's often not that easy to see them through due to their relentless sweetness or cuddly charm.
Some people are just very fond of lying. No particular reason for it, they are simply addicted to telling little white lies to people either to boast something or just out of boredom. Usually their deceptive nature is easily revealed, and afterwards people don't spoil them with their trust even regarding some tiny everyday issues.
