Detecting Lies
Let's start with the eyes of a liar. Most people connect deceiving with looking away. However, recent series of research showed that quite the contrary, most liars look right into their victims' eyes when deceiving them – most probably because they assume that they will be seen through not too easily if they do the opposite of what people expect from them.
Now let's switch to the main lying gestures:
1. Hand covers the mouth – as if to try to keep all the extra deceitful words deep down inside and say the truth instead – god bless subconscious conscience!
2. Touching the nose – just a slight touch or a more noticeable nose-rub is possible. Mind that this very gesture should be reflected on in context otherwise, if a person has flu or a running nose she may be considered a liar.
3. Ear or eye – rub – just to instinctively shy yourself away from deceitful words and activities.
4. Lying through one's teeth is a very well-known expression which vividly expresses a liar's ways: clenched teeth, forced smile plus an eye rub – signs which can help us disclose a not too smart liar.
5. Pulling your collar. Scientists have proved that deceiving causes a tickling feeling in the face or neck area which requires satisfaction i.e. is usually followed by scratching one's nose, chin or neck – collar pulling. This sign is especially peculiar to people who suspect that their lies have been disclosed.
Now that you have learnt some of the main lying body signs you can easily read a liar and save yourself from getting one step closer to becoming paranoid after being fooled and manipulated.
